Before Monarchs, Before Buddha, Too…
Before Monarchs, Before Buddha, Too is a planned compendium of short stories relating to the Pyramid of Virtues (shown below) that I have recently constructed for myself to follow.
Love
Faith Charity
Purity Fairness Friendship Patience Truthfulness
Strength Temperance Courage Prudence Humility Poverty-of-Spirit
The first section of this compendium is finished and includes nine short stories, all dealing with what I consider to be the pinnacle virtue of my Pyramid of fourteen virtues, and that is Love. The names of these short stories (five of which are provided as free samples on this website) are:
- Before Monarchs Flap Their Wings (Metamorphosis)
- Hunting for Turtles
- An Abrupt Outburst
- To Be or Not to Be
- The Game
- A Slick Road
- Before Buddha’s Time
- The Love of Economics (The Economics of Love)
- Forgiveness, The Immortal Soul
The second section of this compendium, which is currently in the development stage, will include an additional set of short stories—one for each of the other thirteen virtues that represents blocks to my pyramid:
- Faith (God Awe)
- Charity (The Golden Rule)
- Purity (the ability to see Beauty in everyone and everything)
- Fairness in Judgment
- Friendliness
- Patience (Peacefulness)
- Truthfulness
- Strength (Fortitude)
- Temperance
- Courage
- Prudence
- Humility
- Poverty of Spirit (Detachment)
