By the grace of God
By the grace of God I am a Christian, by my actions a great sinner, and by calling a homeless wanderer of the simplest origins, traveling from place to place. As so begins the tale of The Way of a Pilgrim, so I will begin my website blog.
In my travels I have played many different roles. There have been times I was a student, and there have been times I was a teacher. I was an Officer and a Gentleman once, but I’ve also been a derelict more than a time or two. I’ve been a business man, but I’ve also been a public servant. A macho boy in my youth, I’m now trying to become a man of knowledge.
I think we all have had to be many different people in our lives. In fact, it amazes me how well the human spirit is able to function and keep all of our personalities somewhat under control.
To date my journey is sixty years long, and although I have seen many things in my travels, I have regrettably missed much along the way. For the most part, I have stumbled through the dense forest of my life like a blind man lost. And like the Russian pilgrim before me, by my actions I remain a great sinner.
I readily admit that my journey through the woods has been arduous and the path taken a circuitous one. Even so, I remain steadfast in my goal to discover the straight and narrow path leading to the clearing outside the forest. Through the loving kindness of others faith still remains.
Although my journey has been long, it is far from over. By the grace of God my blind eyes have begun to see new light. In the present I look forward to what lies ahead.
